Clinical and epidemiologic aspects of mixt- and mono-infections of human ehrlichiosis and ixodes tick borreliosis in Tomsk oblast

The objectives of the study were to assess incidence disease rates of ehrlichiosis as compared with the other tick-borne diseases in Tomsk oblast, and to detect clinical features of mixed-infection of Ixodes tick borreliosis (ITB) and ehrlichiosis. The study confirmed the increased risk of ehrlichia-induced infection among the population and mixed infection of ITB and ehrlichiosis in the Tomsk region. Analysis of clinical symptoms showed that the mixt-infected patients was detected significantly higher frequencies of erythema, generalized lymphadenopathy syndrome intoxication, vegetative dysfunction, meningeal syndrome, and hepatomegaly.
