Recent developments in the Russian healthcare heightened the need for creating and implementing new forms of management, ensuring sustainable development of healthcare organizations and at the same time allowing efficient use of resources without compromising the quality and accessibility of medical services as stated in " The strategy for the development of the health care system in the Russian Federation for the long-term period of 2015-2030". In order to ensure successful development of the healthcare system it is necessary not only to carry out activities to strengthen and re-equip public healthcare institutions, but also to create optimal managerial mechanisms aimed at sustainable development of organizations and achievement of their long-term aims. Transition to international standards, including the ISO 9000 series standards is a necessary condition for sustainable development of healthcare institutions. The special place among them is hold by the ISO 9004:2009 and GOST R ISO 9004-2010 harmonized with the above mentioned standard. This standard provides detailed recommendations for achieving sustainable development in the demanding and constantly changing environment by using the approach based on quality management. However, in modern scientific literature the theoretical and practical bases of implementation of sustainable development principles in healthcare organizations remain open. Consequently, difficulties arise in understanding the development and implementation of sustainable development approaches and their practical application in healthcare organizations. Despite the existence of ISO 9004, determining the General requirements for the sustainable development management system in any organization, the mechanisms for their implementation in healthcare organizations have not been established. Moreover, the system of sustainable development management is largely regarded as a subsystem and not as a holistic system of management of healthcare organization, the functioning of which is aimed at achieving long-term goals, efficient management of resources, effectiveness of key processes and all the manifold activities of healthcare organizations. This article presents the evaluation results of various sustainable development factors in healthcare organizations. The author has analyzed the approach to selecting key factors for assessing activities of organizations, according to Russian and foreign researchers.
