The severity of cognitive and emotional disorders has been studied in patients with chronic bradyarrhythmias requiring cardiac pacing. In contrast to patients without cardiac rhythm disorders, those with chronic bradyarrhythmias displayed the decline of cognitive functions from light to moderate degree, which, however, did not lead to the dementia. The highest cognitive disorders have been recorded in patients with AV blockade.
