College within a university: a sociological analysis of the motives for choosing it by students and the prospects for their professional self-determination

The paper proposes a sociological approach to the analysis of the motives for choosing by students of college as part of a university in favor of studying under secondary vocational education programs. The specifics of the process of professional self-determination of students of the college of vocational education and training are determined as a period of research (testing) of their strengths and capabilities, which can lead both to their professional self-affirmation and to clarification or change of the professional educational strategy of the subject. The article identifies the main factors influencing the choice of applicants in favor of studying at a college within a university, presents an analysis of the results of a sociological study of the process of professional self-determination of college students of branches of the RANEPA, and defines the prospects for research in this area.
