“Missionary publications” in the collection of rare and valuable books of the Scientific Library of D. Banzarov Buryat State University

The article analyzes the source study aspects of a number of book monuments translated by the English missionaries of the Transbaikalia in the first half of the 19th century. “Missionary publications” are part of the collection of rare and valuable books of the Scientific Library of Buryat State University. The translations of English Ecclesiastical Mission made the publications of religious and educational content available to the Buryats and Mongols. Some part of the population got acquainted with the European book culture. The specificity of the collection is its design outside the framework of the Russian book tradition. The key source study characteristics of the collection are the satisfactory preservation of the books and their high readability. The undoubted value of the collection's editions lies in their educational potential, which has become a positive factor in the cultural development of the region.
