Twenty-seven patients with pulmonary metastases from locomotor system sarcomas received the combined modality treatment. Manipulations on the pulmonary parenchyma were performed using surgical neodymium IAG laser MY 40 (Gebruder Martin GmbH&Co.KG) with the wavelength of 1318 nm. Forty-nine operations on the lungs for metastatic involvement were performed. The largest number of the removed metastases per operation was 103. The mean number of pulmonary metastases resected per operation was 9,4. There was no postoperative lethality. The follow-up period since the first operation on the lungs was as follows: from 10 to 71 months in patients with osteogenous sarcoma (n=12), 5 patients died of disease progression; from 3 to 22 months in patients with chondrosarcomas (n=3), all patients died of disease progression; from 3 to 71 months in patients with soft tissue sarcomas (n=12), 4 patients died of disease progression.
