“Commissioners in the field of education”: experience in the functioning of the institute of red professors

The article deals with issue of the creation and functioning of such a widely known higher educational institution of the Soviet period as the Institute of Red Professors. Analyzing the specifics of the professional training of students, the author concludes that the graduates of the Institute received not only fundamental pedagogical, but also political education, which was due to the specific institution and the tasks it faced. Considering the peculiarities of the educational process organization, the composition of graduates and their areas of further employment, the author concludes that the Institute was in line with the set tasks and timely its emergence in Soviet society. This is also evidenced by the fact that the Institute of Red Professors served as a model for the creation of a number of similar higher educational institutions.
