The article deals with lexical and grammatical features and semantics of the Greek word ἀνεπίλημπτος translated as “blameless” in the First Epistle of St. Paul the Apostle to Timothy (1 Tim 3:2) in the synodal translation of the New Testament. The purpose of the article is to show that by both its meaning and its sense, this word correctly names one of the basic moral qualities a bishop must possess, according to the definition of St. Paul the Apostle, and not only his.
