The data of clinical follow-up of 258 patients with confirmed cerebral paroxysms of non-epileptic origin in the form of panic attacks (n=133), sleep disorders (n=19), conversion seizures (n=81) observed at the Interdisciplinary Center of Prevention of Paroxysmal States (ICPPS) have been presented. The analysis of mental and neurological disorders in patients with cerebral paroxysms of non-epileptic origin revealed a high degree of their comorbidity, increasingly occurring in patients with panic disorders, sleep disorders, and syncopes. At the same time mental disorders were both primary (caused by pathological process), and secondary (due to influence of environmental factors, especially to psychogenic influences). Severity of disturbances was in clear dependence on length of illness, severity of comorbid symptoms, and adequacy of rehabilitation.
Cerebral paroxysms of non-epileptic origin, comorbidity, psychiatric disorders, neurological disorders, panic attacks, neurogenic syncope, paroxysmal sleep disorders, conversion seizures
