The theoretical foundations of using game mechanics in higher education are revealed. The specifics of using gamification ideas in training specialists in the field of information security are shown. Based on qualification requirements and classical types of information protection (organizational, technical, physical, cryptographic), the system of competencies and key labor functions of a specialist in the field of information security of internal affairs agencies are presented. A comprehensive methodology for assessing the effectiveness of training specialists of internal affairs agencies in information security using game and case technologies, educational tasks solved with its use are described. The prospects of the work carried out related to the development of a concept for conducting a comprehensive educational game that ensures the involvement of specialists with various labor functions in a single gaming system; determining the criteria for the effectiveness of the implementation of various stages of the game project; creating a single cyberspace that includes various resources simulating the professional activities of various specialists working in the field of information security in law enforcement agencies.
