Peas are one of the most important legume crops in the world, with global annual production estimated at approximately 13.5 million tons and a producer price exceeding US$200 per ton, and peas are currently grown in more than 90 countries. Pea seeds and their products are the main source of protein for both humans and animals. The article presents the results of testing 30 pea lines in a competitive variety testing nursery, conducted from 2021 to 2023 on the fields of the Limited Liability Partnership “A.I. Barayev research and production center for grain farming " (hereinafter referred to as "SPC GF named after A.I. Barayev" LLP), Northern Kazakhstan, Akmola region. For practical selection, taking into account regional climate characteristics, the most valuable as a promising line are the forms that respond least to changes in weather conditions - this is line 1 09-5R7 (V = 9.9%). The protein content of the studied pea lines varied from 23.10% (49-04-2) to 27.66% (1-09-5R7). In terms of starch content, the best variety was the standard KASIB 55.65%. Of greatest interest in the arid conditions of the region for breeding work is the high-yielding line 93-04-2-2 (16.1 c/ha) with a short growing season (79 days), a complex of economically valuable traits, with a stable level of protein (26 .00%) and starch (49.95%) in the seeds
