Regional development concepts: retrospective analysis

The article examines some of the concepts of regional development that were developed in different periods of the XX century. The main provisions of these concepts are described, their main advantages and disadvantages are identified, and conclusions are drawn on the area of their most effective application. In the final part of the work, changes in the concepts of regional development in time were analyzed and the main trends in their transformation from "resource" to "innovative" were identified.
