The article presents interpretations of the concept of " workforce productivity", reflects modern global trends in workforce productivity, analyzes the formation of a movement to increase workforce productivity in Europe, the USA, the USSR and Japan, reflects the fundamentals of the concept of lean manufacturing, analyzes the successful experience of increasing productivity and implementing the concept of lean manufacturing in the Japanese company Toyota in the 1970s.
