Conception of an «ancient constitution» in the English political thought of the second half of 18th century

The article deals with the ideas of English radical political writers of the 18 th century on the historical origins of the English constitutional system. The undertaken analysis of the texts of political and historical works gives an opportunity to reconstruct the historiographical conception of the «ancient constitution» which became, along with the social contract theory, the ideological basis for the radical program of parliamentary reform.
