В статье рассматриваются представления английских радикальных публицистов XVIII века об исторических истоках английской конституционной системы. На основе анализа текстов политических и исторических сочинений реконструируется историографическая концепция «древней конституции», которая, наряду с теорией общественного договора, стала идеологической основой для радикальной программы парламентской реформы.
