The paper considers the concept of quality of life as part of a comprehensive process that can be described as the rise of interest in quality. This process is called the "quality revolution", it is characterized by an increase in the importance of quality in various spheres of public life (economy, education, management, etc.). Quality is considered as a value and an important resource for socio-economic development in a post-industrial society. The limitations of a purely quantitative approach to assessing social development are shown. The paper introduces the concept of modern qualitativism for the characteristics of those value-cognitive transformations, which are the basis of the "quality revolution". Quality of life is one of the most important components of modern qualitativism, which allows us to assess the living conditions of people in society.
