Introduction: the constitutional foundations of party law are updated with the latest changes in Russian party legislation in terms of specifying the duties of political parties. The purpose of the study is to determine the content of constitutionalization on the example of party legal relations by analyzing the main theoretical trends substantiating the mentioned process in Russian constitutional law. Materials and Methods: the author used a set of methodological approaches. The logical and hermeneutical methods are of fundamental importance. They made it possible to analyze the norms of legislation and establish their meaning. The provisions of institutional theory were used to assess modern scientific views on the current system of law. Results: the author came to the conclusion that the constitutionalization of party law norms can influence the constitutionalization of party legal relations. The development of constitutional trends within the relations themselves predetermines the subsequent constitutionalization of the legal framework. Discussion and Conclusions: the author concludes that actual party legal relations and their legal ideal are not equal either in form or in content. Still, both can are consistent with the constitutional order.
