The concept of wood has ambivalent nature in the traditional worldview of the Sakha people. Depending on the local variations of world outlook aspects, the image of the wood in “sacral topography” varies from the positive valence to the negative one. For example, spatial memory of the local community of Vilyuy River Yakuts, whose landscape consists of the forest area generally, reflects semantics of the developed territory. The central and northern Yakuts, who have different objects of landscape, consider the forest as a periphery - a transitional zone between human and other worlds that has a semiotics status of a dangerous zone.
