The article presents the author's approach to the designing of an educational system at the institutions of secondary vocational education. The author considers the conceptual foundations of the educational activities in secondary vocational education institutions, ensuring development of students' socially and professionally significant personal traits that form general cultural and professional competences of future experts. The paper describes the nature of the educational system of secondary vocational education institutions, structural components, criteria, pedagogical conditions of its effective functioning. The author discusses the role and place of the educational system in vocational training and professional self-determination of students, considers the principles of the modern educational system of secondary vocational education institutions.
