Theoretical approaches in research regional parliamentarism in Russian Federation

The article addresses the conceptual problems of studying parliamentarism in Russia. Various approaches to defining parliamentarism, its basic characteristics, and the historical stages of its development in pre-revolutionary, Soviet, and post-Soviet Russia are examined. Particular attention is paid to the functional role of the representative body in the system of state power, interaction with executive structures and issues of separation of powers. The paper analyzes modern approaches to parliamentarism in Russian scholarship and the role of regional parliaments in the federal structure of the country. The authors come to the conclusion that parliamentarism in modern Russia is at the stage of formation, and for a deeper understanding of its features and role in the political system of the state, further research is needed, which can form the prospect of scientific research in this direction.
