The paper explores the activity of two museums that specialize in theatre and art: the National Center for Stage Costumes in Moulin (France) and the Dalí Theatre-Museum (Spain), which have a connection with both theatrical and artistic thematic component that influences formation of the collections. Generalization of the conceptual ideas used in arrangement of exhibitions in such museums allowed to identify not only their similarities with other museums, but also their individual characteristics, the uniqueness of expression of their creative potential. Turning to the origins and the process of forming of the art collections under examination, the author focuses on the features of artworks and exhibition objects of the material world that are exhibited and stored, traces the unique features of evolvement and development of certain topics in their structure. It is concluded that such museums posess a variety of technical forms and means of translating image concepts, since the aspect of theatralization that interacts with metaphor serves here as the main instrument. Theater communication is a multi-level process that is implemented through the co-creation of the museum exhibition designers and the audience. Author’s attention is directed to contrasting and therefore interest evoking collections from two European countries.
