Confessional aspect of political investigation in the tsarist army: Turkestan military district

The article is devoted to the issue of political investigation in the tsarist army in the Turkestan Military District. The author notes that it was carried out by commanders of military units and Orthodox military priests. They tried to keep the religious life of servicemen of all faiths under control, but the Orthodox military clergy could not root out the proselytizing machinations of Catholicism and sectarianism in the district's troops. It seems obvious that the shortcomings of the work of political investigation among the religious denominations of the Russian army were the result of a deep general crisis of tsarism.
