Connotative enantiosemia of the secular and the sacral in Russian general and common naming of priests

Бесплатный доступ

The article shows that “secular” and “sacral” are connotative semantic variables of priest naming, which fix, first, the multidirectional aspects of the Russian linguistic personality (religious-mystical and everyday, “secular”), and secondly, based on these aspects, the connotative meanings of lexemes, connected with their non-clerical, “secular” – and clerical-religious spheres of communication. The combination within the same lexeme of secular and sacral aspects of connotative semantics is defined the connotative enantiosemia.
