The connotative meaning of the phraseology “red maiden” in the verbal code of the Pinezhye wedding ceremonies is considered on the material of 70 wedding lamentations, 51 wedding songs collected in folklore expeditions of the Moscow State University to the Pinezhsky district of the Arkhangelsk region in 1970-1972.
