The article reveals some peculiarities of organization and functioning of the regional constitutional justice in Germany and the Bavarian Constitutional Court in particular. The choice of this perspective is not accidental: firstly, the constitutional courts of Germany are considered as one of the most significant achievements of contemporary German constitutionalism. The German experience is of interest, as in the light of its rich traditions of organization of constitutional control organs, and their quite successful functioning. Secondly, the Bavarian Constitutional Court model is one of the oldest and original. The study addresses the history of constitutional justice in the Land. The author examines the composition, procedure and requirements for judges’ election. The peculiarities of formation of the judiciary are reviewed. The author analyzes in detail the powers of the Court on consideration of citizens’ appeals (constitutional complaints (Verfassungsbeschwerde) and popular claims (Popularklage) and preliminary constitutional control.
