The phenomenon of well-being from the standpoint of a holistic-ontological approach is considered in the article. Methods of explication and comparative analysis, philosophical-historical, ontological and hermeneutic approaches are used. The interrelation of the phenomenon of well-being with such concepts as well-being, quality of life, happiness, meaning of life is shown. It has been substantiated that well-being as an ontological concept is multidimensional. Its conceptualization is connected with the problem of differentiation and inauthentic and authentic modes of being. The desire to satisfy ontological needs is expressed in the concept of “authentic well-being”, which is associated with the existential accomplishment of the personality. The conclusion is made about the dialectical nature of the content sides of ontological well-being, which has qualitative and phenomenological characteristics, is associated with the experience of happiness and the meaning of life, with the measure of the success of the existential project of life. The prospects for the constitution of holistic models of well-being are determined. They are associated with the development of ontological foundations for comprehensive studies of well-being in various fields of knowledge and the question of the possibility of carrying out transdisciplinary analysis
