The education mission changes with the development of society and is largely due to cultural transformations. While constructing the new pedagogical practices in the modern educational system it is necessary to take into account such changes in the social and cultural environment as transitivity, complexity, uncertainty and diversity. However, despite global transformations, the thinking of a modern man is rooted in the intellectual traditions of past eras. These cultural traditions need a rethinking in the changed modernity. From the standpoint of constructivist methodology, cultural traditions are viewed as mixed, ambivalent and invented, they are either discarded or continue to live, being re-constructed. In this sociocultural situation, the mission of education in general and universities in particular is connected with the problems of modernization as the necessary transformation.
