Creation of problem-based tasks for development of multimodal competence in language professional training

Statement of the problem. The article analyzes and formulates the stages of the development of problem-based tasks that contribute to the formation and development of professional competencies among students in the process of mastering programs of higher professional foreign language education. The developer’s actions in this situation depend on their ability to work with complex semiotic systems, so-called polymodal or multimodal texts, and on the use of computer technology. The purpose of the article is to describe the stages and possible actions of the developer when introducing polycode texts into the educational process, as well as to present the results of experimental work at the departments specializing in foreign language training. Methodology (materials and methods). The research methodology consists of an analysis and generalization of scientific research works of Russian and foreign specialists on the problems of vocational education and experimental methods related to the introduction of the provisions of modern linguodidactics and linguistics into the educational process in universities. Problem-based and systemic approaches are used as the main linguistic and didactic approaches in the study. Research results. In accordance with the stages of work with the text accepted in linguodidactics, we propose variants of the developer’s steps, examples of problem-search, and problem-research tasks constructed taking into account the features of polymodal texts in English. The experience of introducing universities into the educational process is also described.
