This article offers an analytical overview of the advisory functions of the African Court of Human and Peoples' Rights. The author examines the legal status of potential applicants who have the right to request an advisory opinion; analyzes the specifics of the subject and personal competence of the Court on the issue of giving an advisory opinion in comparison with other human rights courts.
