Conversion of light alkanes on chromium-containing aluminosilicate ash microspheres

Catalytic pyrolysis of lower hydrocarbons C1-C4 was studied in the presence of chromium-containing aluminosilicate ash microspheres, obtained by coating the microspheres by chromium compounds, using two methods: chemical vapour deposition of organometallic compound and impregnation with chromium (III) nitrate. Investigation was carried out in the temperature range 500-830 С, gas mixture flow rate 25-100 mL/min, contact time with the catalyst 0.67-17.0 s. The catalytic activity of the chromium-containing compositions at comparable conditions has been obtained, and the influence of various factors on the yield of ethylene, propylene and soot formation has been studied. The kinetic and activation parameters for decomposition of propane and formation of methane and ethane have been calculated.
