Koreans in the Pre-War Russian Far East: A Historio-graphical Review of Publications from the 19th to the 20th Centuries

The article examines the periods of formation of the historiography of the resettlement of Koreans to the Russian Far East from the middle of the 19th century to the early 1990s. The aim of this article is to review publications on the immigration of Korean citizens to Russia and the assessment of the contribution of immigrants to the socio-economic development of the Far Eastern region, published in the late 19th and second half of the 20th centuries. The analysis of scientific literature sources was carried out using the problem-chronological method. In the historiography of the settlement of the Far Eastern region by Koreans, two periods can be distinguished: pre-revolutionary and Soviet. As part of the first publication, contemporaries of these processes are also sources on the history of the formation of the multinational character of the population of the Far East. The Soviet period of historiography can be divided into 2 stages: from 1917 to 1937 and from the middle of the twentieth century to the early 1990s. It is characterized by a very small historiography, which is explained by the silence of the problem due to the ideological attitudes of the USSR.
