Corporate culture in the context of China's economic and cultural development (1978-2000)

The study analyzes the creation of corporate culture in China. The emphasis is placed on the development of Chinese corporate culture since the introduction of the reform and opening-up policy. This process can be divided into two stages: the focus on the political construction prior to the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy and the development of Chinese corporate culture since its launching. The second stage is reviewed in the context of three periods: 1) since the late 1970s to the early 1990s when international corporate culture has been developed and introduced; 2) from the 1990s to the early 21st century when the Chinese and international corporate cultures have been integrated; 3) since the early 21st century till present characterized by the gradual establishment of a corporate culture possessing the Chinese characteristics. The author concludes that Chinese corporate culture is a multicultural phenomenon that requires in-depth study.
