In order to study the possibility of therapeutic correction of memory disorders in patients with alcohol addiction (АА) using insulin therapy in combination with an SSNRI antidepressant (Duloxetine) 114 patients with diagnosis of «alcohol withdrawal syndrome» were examined. Research methods: 1) the E. Tulving method for distinction between episodic and semantic memory (voluntary and involuntary memory); 2) questionnaire for assessment of well-being, activity and mood; 3) drawing-test «House-Tree-Man»; 4) dynamic glycemic control. It has been found that patients with AA with intact semantic memory show a marked decrease of episodic memory, that is largely due to the hyperglycemia and emotional instability. Insulin therapy in combination with SSNRI antidepressant (Duloxetine) has a stabilizing effect for blood glucose and emotional state, which is accompanied by improvement of voluntary memory.
