The process of regeerate bone formation was studied experimentally by x-ray with image computer aalysis and by histology during tibial legthening after chisel osteotomy in 8 adult mongrel dogs. The animals were observed in the following periods: 14, 28 days of distraction, 30 days of subsequent fixation, 30 days after the device removal. The studies demonstrated that corticotomy was often obtained instead of the planned osteotomy performing. It enables to expect osteotomy obtaining during corticotomy making with more probability. Such variants should be taken into consideration in clinical practice while determining duration of the predistraction period and distraction mode. Considerable damage of intraosseous structures was to be confirmed during osteotomy made with a chisel, as well as delayed, comparing with corticotomy, osteogenesis provided that other equivalent conditions were observed.
