Area studies in the information space of the libraries of the Republic of Mari El

The article considers the activities of the libraries in the Republic of Mari El in the Area Studies. It presents the trends of its development over the past ten years. It gives the basic directions, such as the formation and development of the funds, project management, Area Studies methods, cooperation with museums, promotion of national books and so on.
