Regional studies, regional knowledge, love to the region. From the experience of the society of lovers of history and regional studies of the Slavyansky district

The author considers the work experience and activities of the Society of Lovers of History and Regional Studies of the Slavyansky District of the Krasnodar Region. By the case of the Socie-ty’s work, the significance of popularizing local history knowledge is determined not only through the print publications, but also telecommunication technologies. An analysis of the effectiveness of work in these areas is conducted. The necessity of studying, preserving and popularizing the historical and cultural heritage of the small Motherland, involvement of wide sections of the population, representatives of public organizations, educational institutions dealing with similar problems in the study of regional history is substantiated. It is argued that local historians today are the most important conductors of knowledge about the history of the region. They contribute to the preservation of historical memory and to the rallying of society. The results of the study of regional history in their entirety can provide the basis for cultural self-identification, which today is practically lost by the society.
