It is possible to study religion and religiosity from different perspectives, but in social science, the priority is given to the study of religious rules and practices, on the one hand, and analysis and interpretation of the obtained data, on the other hand. The paper reviews such terms as religion and religiosity in the context of sociology. Besides, it investigates such extreme religious practices as fanaticism, radicalism, extremism, and terrorism. Moreover, the research analyzes the concept of religiosity in terms of feasibility of using the quantitative approaches. The study is not aimed at theoretical elaboration, interpretation and operationalization of the term of religiosity. It focuses on seeking opportunities to measure religiousness by means of modern research methods. The authors propose the research methods for extreme religiosity. Based on the field and objective of study, they can be divided into three groups: the method of the incomplete sentence and semantic differential, the Aggression Questionnaire by L.G. Pochebut, and the method of content analysis.
