Krasnodar state historical and archaeological museum-reserve as a research institution

The article is devoted to the research activities of the Krasnodar State Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve. This cultural institution is the oldest center of the Regional Studies in the Southern Russia. For more than 145 years the museum staff conducted numerous studies in various fields of scientific knowledge: archeology, history, ethnography, botany and zoology. Significant experience of organization of the field research and scientific conferences is accumulated. Under the auspices of the museum were published hundreds of books including scientific monographs, collections of articles, catalogs of the museum collections. The museum, which is composed of four branches, now is one of the largest museum association in Southern Russia.
