Creative spaces as a hope of the province

The article is concerned with such concepts as creativity and creative space. It presents a tradition of revival in the economy of postindustrial cities by building creative spaces on the base of relinquished industrial enterprises. The authors retrace a genesis of the tradition as a cultural phenomenon and consider the major design and project principles of its realization. The special attention is paid to the role of architecture and design in strengthening of the urban environment’s qualities, which give reasons for creative expression of people, and thus the renaissance of a province can be achieved.
