Creative Spaces in the Formation of Cultural Capital in Cities of the Murmansk Region

The article presents the results of the project “Creative Spaces of Cities in the Murmansk Region”, implemented by the Department of Arts and Design at Murmansk Arctic University in 2025, with the aim of studying the operational experience of creative spaces in the region. It is concluded that, as an integral part of modern urban life, they change its quality for the local community and imbue the territory's image with new meanings. The study reveals the role of creative spaces in the formation of cultural capital and highlights the significance of art practices in the cohesion of local communities and cultural identification. A study of creative spaces in the region has shown that the driving force behind their development is not only the objective demand and supply of creative products, services, and events, but also the socio-cultural policies of the region and corporations that are interested in shaping a new quality of cultural capital in the territory.
