Cremations from the Kuzinskie Farmsteads Cemetery of the 9 th –12 th Centuries: The Comprehensive Interdisciplinary Study

The paper reports on the study of cremated remains from the cemetery known as Kuzinskie Farmsteads which is dated to the 9th–12th centuries. The study analyzed the materials from 29 graves obtained during the excavations conducted from 2017 to 2020, including cremated human remains, remains of the funeral pyre (charcoal fragments), as well as fragments of organic items used for holding or storing various substances, cloth and fur. Comparative analysis of age and sex of the buried individuals with accompanying funerary assemblage was conducted, and the finds characteristic of various burial groups were identified.
