The paper presents results of trace-wear and typological analyses of flintconcretion of a natural fancy form (Fig. 1). The item was discovered in the occupationdeposits of the Stone Age in Dvoynaya Cave in the Northwest Caucasus. The examinationof the traces on the surface and the location where it was found (it was lying at the entranceto the cave) indicates that the concretion had a practical application and was usedas a hammerstone, and, possibly, as a retoucher and was left (thrown away) by prehistoricoccupants of the cave.
