Peasant mentality as a factor in the daily history of the Russian countryside

The article presents an interpretation of the peasant mentality in the daily history of the agrarian community. Representation of various aspects of the manifestation of peasant mentality is positioned as an important factor determining the behavioral and motivational features of the historical life of the peasantry. The contribution of the Russian historical school to the study of this problem is estimated. The author of the publication was the compiler of a historical source - the memoirs of his own grandfather I.I. Shcheviev about the reality of the Soviet village. Based on this evidence, the characteristic features of the mentality of the inhabitants of the Russian and Soviet villages are revealed.
