Criterial characteristic of professional competence of “health basics” teachers

The article presents the results of scientific study of professional competence of teachers of “Health Basics” which replaced the subject “Principles of personal and social safety” at secondary school in Ukraine. The author substantiates the necessity of developing teachers’ professional competence that provides the quality of teaching and formation of valuable attitude to health. The concept “criterion” and its requirements are described. The criteria of professional competence of “Health Basics” teachers according to its components are given. For motivational-value component the criterion is “motivation for “Health Basics” teaching”; for cognitive - “formedness of professional knowledge system”; for operational-activity-related component the criterion is “formedness of operational-activity-related skills of “Health Basics” teaching”; for communicative-reflexive - “formedness of communicative- reflexive abilities”. The set of data for each criterion is disclosed and their characteristics are given. A scheme of criterion-indicative system of “Health Basics” teachers’ professional competence development is presented. The set of diagnostic approaches of professional competence assessment is listed.
