Criteria for renewal of the political elite in the Republic of Dagestan

The article is basing on the author’s concrete-sociological researches in the Republic of Dagestan in 2013-2015. Their results allow to see a more clear picture of the criteria for the formation of the political elite in the Republic of Dagestan. The first study, performed in 2013 in the period of changing the head of the Republic, was devoted to expectations of the people of Dagestan. The second phase of research was realized in 2015. Despite the fact that in the past two years the Republic had done a lot to combat corruption, the survey results clearly showed that the main criteria for entering the political elite were the same - it is contacts and money. Thus, updating of elite mechanisms is mostly due to personal interests and have not of qualitative measurement
