There is statistically significant correlation between semiquantitative analysis results of myocardial perfusion imaging with single-photon emission computed tomography and the rate of major cardiac events in patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery. Patients with moderate myocardial hypoperfusion in stress, moderate and/or severe stress-inducible ischemia estimated by myocardial perfusion imaging should undergo to coronary angiography in order to predict major cardiac events during non-cardiac surgery.
