Criteria for early diagnosis of proliferative stage of diabetic retinopathy

A total of 32 diabetic patients (64 eyes) with preproliferative and proliferative stage of diabetic retinopathy. Differences were found mean values of morphometric parameters of the optic nerve in the treatment groups of patients. It is possible to use them to create a diagnostic test using the method of construction of ROC curves.The highest value in the division preproliferative and proliferative stages of diabetic retinopathy is the cross sectional area of nerve fibers (ROC=0,75). The value of this index above 0.92 mm 2 is the optimal point of separation of the two states with a sensitivity of 86% and a specificity of 60%.
