This article researches the problem of understanding, critical analysis and interpretation in pre-Soviet philosophical and legal literature and law books of one of the main theoretical constructs, i.e. the concept of struggle for law, of sociologically based Ihering’s legal doctrine. The criticism of Ihering’s concept of struggle for law is considered from the point of view of correlation and comparison with Ihering’s original judgments and his formulated theoretical concepts. The research methodology includes general and specific scientific research methods, as well as the research methods applied in the field of history of political and legal doctrines.
