This author attempts to understand the formation of mental causality problem in philosophical discourse. The focus is on the concepts developed by researchers in the field of modern analytical philosophy. The author analyzes the most relevant approaches to the problem of mental causation and consciousness. It is stated that at the moment the basic theories about the nature of consciousness and its role in behavior have already been created, which describe the possibility of the causal potential of consciousness from different sides. Different research positions are contrasted, where extreme physicalist theories speak of the absence of influence, and inter-actionist ones interpret this problem in exactly the opposite way. The main aspects of the development of the phenomenon from the interactionist side are revealed. It is indicated that researchers of the interactionist direction are faced with several natural science principles that narrow the scope of the study itself.
