The crisis of housing construction in the cities of Irkutsk region in the 1990's

The article analyzes the causes of the housing crisis in the cities of Angara region in the 1990s. The destruction of economic ties created serious difficulties for the construction enterprises of the region. New housing construction as a factor attracting new migrants to the region gradually lost its significance due to the financial insolvency of much of the region’s population. The author concludes that the activation of housing construction in the study period could become a catalyst for the development of regional economy and improvement living standards of the regional population.
